Preach to Yourself!

“I Might… But I Won’t.”

Good Morning, My Ekklesia Family

Psalm 119:11 (NLT)

“I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.”

Sometimes the only preacher in the room is you. Sometimes the choir is quiet, the church is empty, the phone is silent, and the encouragers are unavailable. That’s when you’ve got to reach into the archive of what you’ve already hidden in your heart.

Because when temptation comes… you might not have a mic… but you better have a Word.

You might be tempted to cuss, quit, compromise, or go back — but you won’t, because His Word is already working on the inside.

Start each morning not with social media, but Scripture. Before the world speaks, make sure God’s Word is what you're hiding — and holding.

When His Word is hidden, it becomes your internal preacher when no one else is around.

  • "I have hidden" – This isn’t accidental. It’s intentional. Like a treasure buried for safekeeping.

  • "your word" – Not gossip. Not fear. Not culture. But God’s Word, living and active (Hebrews 4:12).

  • "in my heart" – Not just memorized in the mind, but internalized in the soul.

  • "that I might not sin" – Because Word retention leads to spiritual resistance.

  • "against you" – Sin isn’t just a moral failure; it’s personal. It’s against the God who loves you.

"I might" – speaks to my capacity. "But I won’t" – speaks to my conviction.

Yes, I can fall — I still have flesh. But because I’ve buried His Word deep… I won’t fall without a fight. Because when His Word is in your heart, temptation meets resistance.

“I might sin” acknowledges my weakness. “But I might not” announces my willingness to be holy.

I’m not holy because I can’t sin. I’m holy because I choose not to.

  • When no one else reminds you who you are — you preach to yourself.

  • When you feel like giving up — you preach to yourself.

  • When the enemy whispers lies — you counter with truth you've hidden deep.

  • When shame knocks on your door — you answer with grace you've memorized.

Lord, I admit I still have moments where I might.

But I thank You for giving me the strength where I might not.

Today, I choose Your Word. I choose obedience.

I hide Your truth deep in my soul — not just so I can preach it to others,

but so I can preach it to myself.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you’ve been living without the Word buried in your heart… today is your day to return to the Source.

Say this from your soul:

“Lord Jesus, I want more than inspiration — I want transformation. I invite Your Word to live in me, correct me, guide me, and protect me. Write it on my heart and make me new. I believe in You, Jesus. I receive Your truth. Amen.”
