When the Answer Finally Comes

Don't become so focused on your next prayer that you forget to thank God for the one you're already living in.

“The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.”— Psalm 126:3

When the Answer Finally Comes

Have you ever prayed for something so long that when God finally answered, you almost forgot you had prayed for it?

Psalm 126 describes a moment like that. God had restored His people, and the blessing seemed almost unbelievable: “We were like them that dream.”

Then they recognized what had happened:

“The LORD hath done great things for us.”

That's where spiritual growth happens—not simply in receiving the blessing, but in recognizing the One who blessed you.

This week, Ekklesia is celebrating a new home. But your answered prayer may look completely different.

Maybe it's a relationship that survived. A door that finally opened. Peace after a painful season. Food on the table. Another day of life. Or simply the strength to keep going when you thought you couldn't.

Sometimes we're so busy asking God, “What's next?” that we haven't thanked Him for what's now.

Today, look around.

You may discover that you're standing in something you once prayed for.

Don't rush past the answer. Recognize it. Thank Him. And remember who brought you here.

Before asking God for anything today, identify one thing you're experiencing now that you once prayed about.

Don't minimize it because it didn't arrive exactly as you expected.

Stop.

Recognize it.

Thank God for it.

Then ask yourself:

“How should I live differently because God has been this good to me?”

Because gratitude isn't only something we say.

Gratitude should change how we live.

Let's Pray...

Father,

Today I don't want to rush into another request without recognizing what You've already done.

Thank You for prayers You've answered, doors You've opened, strength You've given, and ways You've provided that I may have overlooked.

Forgive me for becoming accustomed to blessings I once begged You for.

Open my eyes today.

Help me recognize Your hand in my life, appreciate what You've entrusted to me, and use Your blessings in ways that honor You.

The Lord has done great things for me—and I am grateful.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today's Declaration

I WILL RECOGNIZE.

Today I will not allow familiarity to make me forgetful.

I will recognize God's goodness.

I will celebrate His faithfulness.

I will thank Him for what He's already done.

And instead of immediately asking, “God, what's next?”

I'll take a moment to say:

“God, thank You for what's now.”
