Give Your Burdens to the Lord

Psalm 55:22 (NLT):

"Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall."

This verse is a beautiful invitation and a promise.

“Give your burdens to the Lord” — God isn’t asking you to carry your pain, stress, betrayal, or grief alone. He invites you to hand it over to Him.

“He will take care of you” — This is not a maybe. It’s a guarantee. He’s committed to your care.

“He will not permit the godly to slip and fall” — This doesn’t mean life won’t shake you. It means you won’t be shaken loose from His grip.

Lord, I cast my burdens on You today — every anxious thought, every worry, every heartbreak. Carry what I can’t. Strengthen what’s weak in me. Remind me that You are holding me steady when life feels unstable. Thank You for Your unfailing care. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Is something weighing heavy on your heart today?

Take a moment. Breathe. Name that burden. Then, in prayer, release it to God.

You don’t have to carry it anymore.

What a Friend We Have in Jesus

Lyrics by Joseph M. Scriven (1855)

Music by Charles C. Converse (1868)

Verse 1:

What a Friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh, what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer.

Verse 2:

Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

We should never be discouraged—

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Can we find a friend so faithful

Who will all our sorrows share?

Jesus knows our every weakness;

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Verse 3:

Are we weak and heavy laden,

Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior, still our refuge—

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

Take it to the Lord in prayer!

In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,

Thou wilt find a solace there.
