Winning Without Wounding
Romans 12:17-21 (NLT)
"Never pay back evil with more evil... Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone... Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good."
Good morning My Ekklesia Family
There's an old story about a young eagle raised among chickens didn’t realize what he was until one day he looked up and saw another eagle soaring. Every time he tried to fly, the chickens mocked him, pecked at his wings, and told him to stop trying to be “better.”
He could’ve fought back. He could’ve stayed low just to blend in. But instead, he chose to rise—not to prove them wrong, but to prove his Creator right.
He didn’t have to hurt the chickens to fly. He just had to be what God designed him to be.
Paul teaches in Romans 12 that vengeance is not our assignment—virtue is. We are called to overcome evil with good. That includes rising above backstabbing, gossip, manipulation, and cruelty.
Jesus said in Matthew 20:26:
“Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.”
You don’t have to cheat to succeed. You don’t have to lie to be loved. You don’t have to wound others to win in life.
In ministry, serve with love, not comparison.
In business, build with honor, not shortcuts.
In relationships, rise with grace, not revenge.
Let God elevate you in His timing. The promotion that comes from Him won’t require you to destroy anyone else to get it.
Father,
Help us soar without slandering. Let us rise without resenting. Teach us to trust that Your plan for us does not require harm to others. We surrender the need to compete, to compare, to control.
We declare today: We are eagles—not chickens. We rise with love, truth, and grace.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.
If you’ve been fighting just to feel seen—if you’ve been hurt while trying to do right—Jesus sees you. He invites you into a life where character matters, and love wins. Come to Him today.
