Governing Question: Can God trust me with influence?

Genesis 41:39–41 NLT

Pharaoh recognizes God's wisdom in Joseph and places him in authority over Egypt.

Supporting Scriptures: Luke 12:48 • Mark 10:42–45 • Proverbs 11:10–11

Joseph moves from prisoner to a position of enormous authority because God gives him wisdom concerning the coming famine.

But Joseph's elevation isn't merely about Joseph getting promoted.

God gives Joseph influence because lives are about to depend upon how he uses it.

His position becomes stewardship.

Tuesday night we asked:

“What happens to people when my power touches them?”

Power isn't only political or financial.

Knowledge is power. Experience is power. Relationships are power. Information is power. A platform is power. Spiritual authority is power. Someone's trust is power.

The question isn't simply:

“How much influence do I have?”

It's:

“Who benefits because God gave it to me?”

Take inventory of what God has placed in your hands.

What do you know?

Who do you know?

What resources, opportunities, experience, access, gifts, or authority do you possess?

Now ask:

How can what God gave me preserve, protect, provide for, or prepare somebody else?

Don't merely use influence to increase yourself.

Steward it to improve somebody else's life.

Thursday's Question:What happens to people when my power touches them?

God may have put something in your hands because somebody else's future will be affected by how you use it.

Father, thank You for everything You have entrusted to me. Forgive me when I have treated influence like ownership instead of stewardship. Give me Joseph's wisdom to recognize that what You place in my hands may be intended to help somebody else. Teach me to use my knowledge, resources, relationships, authority, and opportunities in ways that preserve life and reveal Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Jesus didn't use His power merely for Himself.

He healed.

He restored.

He delivered.

He fed.

He taught.

He ultimately gave Himself.

Ask:

“Jesus, how can I use what You've given me to serve someone today?”

Then use it.
