"True Friendship: More Than a Feeling”
“There are ‘friends’ who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.” — Proverbs 18:24 (NLT)
Good morning My Ekklesia Family
A young man once brought his friends with him to church. After service, the pastor asked,
“Are they friends of your soul—or just friends of your season?”
He froze.
Because he had never asked that question of his inner circle.
Proverbs 18:24 reveals the truth that all company isn’t covenant. There are “friends” who carry the title but not the trait—some who clap for you in public but secretly compete in private.
It’s a reminder that friendship requires maturity, reciprocity, and understanding—and not everyone is equipped for that role in your life.
Some people may enjoy your presence but lack the character to support you in your valleys or celebrate with you in your victories.
But a real friend—the kind God sends—is loyal in private, present in pain, and spiritually aligned with your purpose.
Jesus modeled this: He forgave Peter after betrayal, wept with Mary and Martha, and even washed Judas' feet.
God-honoring friendship is not casual—it’s covenant.
Examine your circle: Do they fuel your faith or frustrate your focus?
Don’t confuse proximity with purpose.
Be the kind of friend you’re praying for: Honest. Loyal. Prayerful. Purposeful.
Pray for friendships that protect your future, not just your feelings.
Lord, I surrender every relationship to You.
Heal me from betrayal.
Remove what’s draining me.
Surround me with those assigned to elevate, sharpen, and walk with me.
And most of all—make me a friend like Jesus: faithful, forgiving, and full of grace.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
At Ekklesia, we don’t just teach friendship—we live it.
We believe in covenant relationships that protect your spirit and empower your soul.
If you’re ready to grow with people who love you for real—
Welcome home.
