The Lord is a Strong Fortress

Good morning Ekklesia,

The Name of the Lord is a Strong Fortress

(Proverbs 18:10, NLT: "The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to Him and are safe.")

Beloved, today’s Word invites us to consider the power and security found in the name of the Lord. Proverbs 18:10 reveals that God’s name is more than just a title—it is His character, His promises, His very essence. When Scripture says "the name of the Lord is a strong fortress," it’s declaring that God Himself is our refuge, our protection, and our strength in times of trouble.

In the ancient world, fortresses were impenetrable places of safety. For us, the name of the Lord offers spiritual refuge in the storms of life. Whether you are facing sickness, fear, financial challenges, or spiritual warfare, God’s name encompasses His faithfulness, healing, provision, and victory. It reminds us that He is Jehovah-Jireh (the Lord who provides), Jehovah-Rapha (the Lord who heals), and Jehovah-Shalom (the Lord our peace).

But notice, this promise is for "the godly"—those who run to Him. Running to the Lord requires humility and surrender. It means acknowledging that we cannot face life’s battles alone. The good news is that through Christ, we can approach this fortress freely, not as strangers but as sons and daughters of God.

Today, let this verse inspire you to make a conscious choice to run to the Lord. When anxiety creeps in, declare His name over your situation. When doubt whispers lies, remember His promises. Spend time in prayer and worship, calling upon His name in faith. Build your life on the unshakable truth that God is your fortress—your safe place.

Heavenly Father, we thank You that Your name is a strong fortress, and we can run to You and be safe. Today, we surrender our fears, burdens, and uncertainties to You. Forgive us for the times we’ve relied on our own strength. Teach us to abide in Your presence and trust in Your power. Strengthen our faith and help us to walk boldly in the confidence of who You are. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

If you’ve never made the decision to follow Christ, now is the time to run to Him. The doors of the fortress are open, and Jesus is calling you to surrender your life to Him. At Ekklesia Christian Life Ministries, we are here to walk this journey with you. Visit us at ekklesiachristianlife.org and take the next step in your faith. You are not alone—join us as we grow together as disciples of Christ and experience the fullness of God’s love and protection.

Run to Him today, beloved, and find safety, strength, and peace in the unshakable fortress of His name.
