"No More Excuses – Aligning with God’s Desires"

Philippians 2:13 NLT – "For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him."

Hello, Grace and Peace, My Ekklesia Family

A farmer gave his son seeds, tools, and rich soil to plant a garden. Weeks later, the field remained empty. When asked why he hadn’t planted, the son replied, “I was waiting until I felt like it.”The father answered, “Son, I didn’t give you the seeds for your feelings. I gave you the seeds for your future.”

Beloved, God has already given you everything you need: the soil of salvation, the tools of His Spirit, and the seeds of His Word. The only thing left is your choice to move in obedience.

Paul’s words to the church in Philippi carry both a revelation and a responsibility. The phrase "God is working in you" is energeo (Greek) — meaning to energize, empower, and activate. This is not passive — it’s divine movement inside of you.

  • Desire: The Spirit plants godly cravings — not for selfish gain but for holy living.

  • Power: The Spirit enables what flesh cannot sustain.

  • To do what pleases Him: God’s work is always toward His glory and your good.

This verse abolishes excuses. God is not asking you to find the strength — He’s giving it to you. The will and the work are both gifts from God.

When we feel stuck, it’s often not because God hasn’t moved — but because we haven’t responded. Philippians 2:13 reminds us:

  • We already have what we need.

  • We already know what pleases Him.

  • We already carry His power to do it.

So let’s stop blaming the past, people, or pressure. The desire is already in you — choose obedience today.

Life-Changing Applications

  1. Check Your Desires – Are they God-given or self-driven?

  2. Pray for Power – Ask the Holy Spirit to activate what you’ve neglected.

  3. Act on Conviction – Obedience is not delayed. When God stirs, you move.

  4. Kill the Excuses – You’re not too broken. You’re not too late. If you’re breathing, He’s still working.

Let's Pray...

Father,

Thank You for working in me even when I was unwilling to work with You.

I surrender my excuses, my delays, and my desires.

Replace my fear with faith, and my flesh with fire from Your Spirit.

Help me to want what You want and walk where You’re calling.

I receive Your energy to do what pleases You.

In Jesus’ name, I align myself with Your will today. Amen.

Invitation to Christian Discipleship

God is not just giving you power — He’s inviting you to purpose. If you’ve never given your life to Christ, or if you've strayed and need to realign with His plan, today is your moment.

Romans 10:13 – “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Say this aloud: “Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God. Forgive me of my sins. I surrender my life to You. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me live for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

If you prayed this prayer, we’d love to walk with you.
