DON'T BE SO HOLY YOU'RE NO EARTHLY GOOD

Biblical holiness separates us from sin without separating us from the people Jesus sends us to love.

John 17:15,18 (NLT) — “I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one… Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.”

Supporting Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 6:17; Matthew 5:13–16; Luke 5:29–32.

Jesus prayed not for His followers' removal from society but for their protection and sanctification while being sent into it.

Meanwhile, Paul's “come out from among them” language in 2 Corinthians 6 addresses compromising allegiance with idolatry—not abandoning every unbeliever.

Jesus was Holy.

Watch this… He didn’t just make Himself approachable to sinners—He went looking for them.

That's worth thinking about.

If our version of holiness makes broken people afraid to come near us, but Jesus' holiness caused broken people to seek Him, perhaps we need to examine what we're calling holiness.

We're called to separation from sin, not separation from mission.

Holiness without love becomes religious performance.

Ask yourself:

Do people who don't know Jesus know that I genuinely care about them?

Be distinct without becoming distant.

Let’s pray…

Holy Spirit, make me holy without making me self-righteous. Separate me from anything that dishonors Christ while sending me toward people who need His love. Give me discernment without judgmentalism, conviction without arrogance, and compassion without compromise. Amen.

Ekklesia is called to be a sent church. Don't merely attend church this week. Be the Church wherever God sends you.
