Keep Being Uniquely Great – A Father’s Day Reflection
Exodus 20:12 NLT
“Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Devotion for Sunday – My First Father’s Day Without My Father
There’s something sacred about legacy—not just what’s left to us, but what’s poured into us.
This Sunday is my first Father’s Day without my father, yet somehow… I feel him near. His lessons still echo in my heart: “Son, don’t be like me. Be yourself.”
And yet, somehow, I became so much like him. A pastor. A father. A man who loves deeply and serves faithfully. A man who owns his mistakes.
He showed compassion to his community—and now, by God's grace, I do the same.
But I’ve had to find my own way. My voice. My assignment. My yes to God.
If you're grieving today, let this be your comfort:
Love never dies—it multiplies through legacy.
Grief doesn’t erase identity—it reveals the depth of what shaped us.
And to those who don’t understand your uniqueness—
Remember this:
What others hate in you is often what’s missing in them.
Keep being the you God made. Unapologetically. Powerfully. Uniquely great.
Don’t shrink to fit people who can’t see the full measure of your divine design. God didn’t create you to be a copy. He made you an original masterpiece.
Father, on this sacred day, thank You for earthly fathers and spiritual mentors. Thank You for my father’s life and the legacy he left. Help me walk my own path with grace, courage, and authenticity. Heal the hearts of those grieving today, and remind us that You are the Father who never leaves. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
To every son, every father, every daughter, every grieving heart—
You are your father’s legacy.
But even more, you are God’s masterpiece.
Be blessed. Be bold. Be you.
Happy Father’s Day.
