Hold On To Hope

“Hold On to Hope”

Romans 15:13 (NLT)

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Good morning Ekklesia

Picture a lighthouse standing on the edge of a rocky coast. The storm clouds are thick, the waves rise violently, and thunder roars—but that light never stops shining. Ships don’t need the storm to end to find their way. They just need the light to keep shining.

Hope is our lighthouse. It doesn’t remove the storm—but it helps us navigate through it.

Romans 15:13 is Paul’s prayer for the believers in Rome. He is closing a portion of his letter that has been full of encouragement, instruction, and unity. His words are layered with meaning:

“God, the source of hope” – God isn’t just the object of our hope. He is the origin of it. Hope flows from Him.

“Will fill you completely with joy and peace…” – The more we trust in God, the more space we make for joy and peace to fill us.

“…so that you may overflow with confident hope…” – This hope is not timid or reserved. It is bold, expectant, and overflowing—not by human effort, but through the power of the Holy Spirit.

1. Hope is not passive; it is powerful.

Trusting God gives us access to joy and peace—the ingredients needed for spiritual endurance.

2. When we trust God, He does the filling.

You don’t have to manufacture joy or fake peace. You just have to make room through faith.

3. The Holy Spirit empowers your overflow.

Hope isn’t a trickle—it’s an overflow. Let that overflow touch others around you, especially those who are losing heart.

4. Living in hope is a testimony.

When you keep showing up with joy in hard times, people see God’s light in you—just like that lighthouse in the storm.

God of My Hope,

I come before You today, not asking for a lighter load, but for stronger shoulders.

I surrender the weight of worry and fear,

And I receive Your joy, Your peace, and Your promise.

Holy Spirit, fill me again—until I overflow.

Remind me that no storm can silence the light of Your love in me.

I will trust You even in the dark,

Because You are the Source of my hope.

Let this hope rise in me like resurrection power,

Reviving dreams, healing wounds, and stirring faith.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Have you been feeling like the storm has lasted too long?

Do you feel like giving up, or that joy and peace are just out of reach?

Friend, Jesus is still your lighthouse. And He’s still calling you.

Today, we invite you to come home to the Source of hope—Christ Jesus.

Let Him lead you. Let Him fill you. Let Him overflow in you.
