His Mercy and Grace
Good Morning, Ekklesia!
Today's devotion draws inspiration from the powerful lyrics of The Winans' song, which remind us of the boundless mercy and grace of God:
"Your mercy (your mercy) covers sinners too, as they go on their daily tasks. They don't know (they don't know) that it's really you, and they don't even bother to ask. But your grace (but your grace) keeps right on covering them, til' you bring them into the knowledge of the truth. By your Son (by your Son), you can open their eyes, so that they'll realize that it's really you."
These words paint a vivid picture of God’s unfailing love, reaching out to all, even when they are unaware. His mercy covers us, His grace guides us, and through His Son, He opens our eyes to the truth of His presence.
Romans 5:8 (NLT) declares, "But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners." This scripture echoes the song’s message, reminding us that God’s love is not dependent on our actions but on His infinite grace. Even before we acknowledged Him, He was already working in our lives, drawing us closer to Him.
The chorus of this Winans' song encapsulates the heart of the gospel: "It's no goodness of my own, but it's by the grace of God that I've been kept all this time, and I still have a mind to go on." This truth is central to our faith—our journey with God is not sustained by our righteousness, but by His unmerited favor. His grace is the foundation of our perseverance, and His mercy is the covering that keeps us through every trial.
As we go about our daily tasks today, let's be reminded of those around us who may not yet know the Lord. Just as The Winans sing, there are many who are unaware that it's God who is sustaining them. Pray for them, that through God's mercy and grace, their eyes will be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ. And as we acknowledge that our strength and perseverance come from Him alone, let us extend that grace to others, living as beacons of His love in a world that desperately needs it.
