What are You Looking At?

Good Morning, My Ekklesia Family

What Are You Looking At?

“For we live by believing and not by seeing.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NLT)

Imagine Peter stepping out of the boat on the stormy sea. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water — defying the natural. But the moment he looked at the wind and waves, fear replaced faith, and he began to sink. What we focus on determines whether we walk in faith or drown in fear.

Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 5:7 remind us that the Christian life is not lived by what we see with our eyes, but by what we believe in our hearts. Faith is not denial of reality — it’s trusting God’s promise above visible circumstances. The Greek term for “believe” (pisteuō) conveys ongoing trust — a daily reliance that what God said will surely come to pass, even when you can’t yet see it.

Believing is seeing — in the Spirit first, before it manifests in the natural. That’s why faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

Practical Life-Changing Application

This morning, ask yourself: What am I looking at that’s keeping me from believing?

Are you staring at bills instead of Jehovah Jireh?

Looking at diagnosis instead of the Great Physician?

Watching rejection instead of remembering God’s acceptance?

Shift your focus from the visible problem to the invisible promise. Faith doesn’t deny the storm — it declares, “Peace, be still,” in the middle of it.

Today, live by faith — not by the sight of what’s breaking down, but by the belief that God is building something better.

Father, open our spiritual eyes to see You at work, even when life feels uncertain. Help us to walk by faith and not by fear. We surrender every anxious thought, every doubt, every distraction. Strengthen our trust in You — the Author and Finisher of our faith. We believe that You are making all things new, even now. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

If you’ve been walking by what you see, it’s time to start walking by Who you know. His name is Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Come — believe, receive, and follow Him today.
