“Everybody close to you… isn’t for you.”
Judas walked with Jesus…
but still betrayed Him.
Let that sink in.
He saw the miracles.
He heard the teaching.
He was in the circle.
But his heart…
was drifting.
Because betrayal doesn’t start with action—
it starts with influence.
A voice.
A thought.
A compromise.
And if you entertain it long enough…
it will start directing you.
So hear me clearly:
Not every voice speaking to you
is sent by God.
Question:
What are you listening to… that is pulling you away from Him?
WEDNESDAY — “Watch Who You’re Listening To”
The Sound of Betrayal
Not every voice speaking to you is sent by God.
Matthew 26:14–16 (NLT)
“Then Judas Iscariot… went to the leading priests and asked, ‘How much will you pay me to betray Jesus?’”
Judas was not an outsider—he was one of the twelve. He walked with Jesus, witnessed miracles, and heard truth firsthand. Yet in this moment, he chooses to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. This was not a sudden collapse—it was a slow drift. Scripture suggests Judas had already been compromised internally (John 12:6). His outward proximity to Jesus masked an inward disconnection.
Betrayal did not begin with the transaction—
it began with misalignment.
This is where many believers struggle today.
You can be:
Close to church
Around the Word
In the room
…and still not be aligned in your heart.
Judas teaches us something sobering: You can walk with Jesus publicly
and drift from Him privately.
We often think betrayal is loud—
but it usually starts quiet.
A thought…
A compromise…
A voice we entertain…
And eventually, what we tolerate
begins to lead us.
Not every voice:
That sounds good
That feels right
That’s close to you
…is sent by God.
Judas didn’t fall overnight—he drifted.
What you entertain will eventually influence you.
What influences you will eventually direct you.
So ask yourself:
What voices am I listening to?
What thoughts am I entertaining?
What compromises am I justifying?
Because the danger is not just falling—
it’s drifting without realizing it.
Stay aligned. Stay aware. Stay anchored.
Father, guard my heart and mind. Help me to discern what is from You and what is not. Remove any voice, influence, or thought that pulls me away from Your truth. Keep me aligned with Your Word and sensitive to Your Spirit. Strengthen me to reject compromise and remain faithful. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Don’t just walk near Jesus—walk with Him.
Stay aligned, stay grounded, stay connected.
Grow deeper in relationship, not just routine.
