Called to Bless
Good Morning, My Ekklesia Family!
1 Peter 3:9 (NLT) – "Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and He will grant you His blessing."
Peter, writing to a persecuted church, reminds believers that our response to mistreatment should reflect Christ—not the world. The natural reaction to being wronged is to fight back, but as followers of Jesus, we are called to bless, not retaliate. This principle echoes Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 5:44: "Love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you!"
The Greek word for "blessing" (eulogeō) means to speak well of, to invoke favor upon someone. When we choose to bless instead of curse, we are aligning ourselves with God’s way of grace, peace, and supernatural favor. And the promise? God, in return, releases His blessings upon us!
Choose Blessing Over Bitterness – The enemy wants you to live offended, but God calls you to rise above. Instead of reacting in anger, respond in love.
Speak Life, Not Strife – Words have power! Bless those who hurt you with kindness, prayer, and grace, even when they don’t deserve it.
Walk in God’s Favor – When you bless others, even in difficulty, you position yourself to receive God’s blessing in return. His favor will overflow in your life!
Be the Light – A watching world will see Christ in you when you refuse to act like the world. Your response could lead someone to salvation!
Father, today I choose to walk in the blessing You have called me to. I surrender my need to retaliate, to prove myself, or to repay evil for evil. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I may respond with grace and love. Help me to reflect Jesus in my words, my actions, and my heart. I trust that as I bless others, You will take care of me. Thank You for Your unfailing favor. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Family, if you’ve been holding onto hurt, let it go today. If you’ve been caught in cycles of bitterness, step into the freedom of Christ. Jesus calls us to bless because He first blessed us—even when we didn’t deserve it. If you haven’t given your life to Jesus, today is your day! Come into the family of faith and experience God’s love, grace, and blessings.
