How May I Be of Service to You?

Hello My Ekklesia Family

Matthew 23:11 (NLT)

“The greatest among you must be a servant.”

When it is all said and done, what will be said about you?

Not how loud you were.

Not how visible you were.

Not how many titles you carried.

But how you served.

Jesus redefined greatness. In a world obsessed with recognition, He pointed His disciples toward humility. In a culture chasing platforms, He modeled towels and basins. In Matthew 23, Jesus confronts religious leaders who loved status more than service—and then He gives one sentence that dismantles every ego-driven ambition:

“The greatest among you must be a servant.”

Greatness in the Kingdom is not measured by who follows you, but by who is helped because of you.

In Matthew 23:11, the Greek word for servant is diakonos, meaning one who waits tables, one who ministers to the needs of others. Jesus intentionally chose a word associated with low status to redefine high calling.

This was radical. Rabbis were revered. Leaders were honored. Yet Jesus declares that leadership in God’s Kingdom flows downward, not upward. Authority is validated through service. Influence is authenticated by humility.

Paul echoes this truth in Acts 20:35, reminding the church that Jesus Himself taught:

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

And again in Galatians 5:13–14, freedom in Christ is not license for self-indulgence—it is permission to love through service.

Peter completes the picture in 1 Peter 4:10–11, teaching that spiritual gifts are not personal trophies, but Kingdom tools—given so that God gets the glory, not the servant.

This devotional asks one defining question:

Are you building your story—or surrendering it so God can tell His?

Every day is another opportunity to serve:

  • Serve with your hands

  • Serve with your words

  • Serve with your time

  • Serve with your gifts

  • Serve with your attitude

Serving does not diminish you—it reveals Christ in you.

  • Shift your question from “What do I get?” to “Who can I help today?”

Heaven responds to hearts that look outward.

  • Evaluate your success by impact, not applause.

If no one is better because of you, something is missing.

  • Use your gifts intentionally.

What God placed in you was never meant to stop with you.

  • Let God narrate your legacy.

When you live to glorify Him, your life becomes a testimony without words.

  • Choose obscurity over ego when necessary.

God promotes servants who are faithful when no one is watching.

Prayer of Surrender

Father God,

I surrender my desire to be seen, celebrated, and validated by people.

I release every need for recognition and replace it with obedience.

Use my life as a vessel of service.

Let my gifts serve Your purpose, not my pride.

Teach me to lead by loving and to influence by serving.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer of Encouragement

Lord,

Strengthen every weary servant who feels unseen.

Remind them that You see, You know, and You reward faithfulness.

Renew their joy in serving.

Restore their strength in doing good.

Let them hear Your voice say,

“Well done, My good and faithful servant.”

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Live in such a way that God tells your story.

Because when eternity speaks, only one voice matters.

Love you more than you know,

Stephän
