Do Not Cancel Grace

“I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.” — Galatians 2:21 (NLT)
Say you have a friend who gives you a priceless gift. You smile, say “thank you,” and then quietly slip a $10 bill into their hand, as if the gift wasn’t really free. That’s what happens when we try to earn what Christ already paid for.
Paul makes it plain: if we could achieve righteousness by following rules, then Jesus died for nothing. But He didn’t die for nothing. He died for you, He died for me, and He died for us to live in freedom.
Grace is not cheap — it cost Christ everything. But grace is also not for sale — it cannot be earned or repaid. Our job is not to cancel grace by trying to add our works, but to embrace it, live in it, and let it transform us.
Stop striving to “be enough” — you already are, in Christ.
Don’t measure others by their performance; measure them by God’s love.
Remember: Grace means Christ is enough and you are free in Him.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your grace that cannot be nullified. Forgive me for the times I’ve tried to earn what You freely gave. Help me to rest in Your finished work on the cross. Let my life testify that Your grace is sufficient, and may I extend that same grace to others today. In Your Name, Amen.
Ekklesia Note
Family, let’s walk in grace today. Don’t cancel what Christ has already completed. Share this truth with someone who feels like they have to “earn” God’s love. Remind them: Christ is enough.
