“Not everybody loves like they say they do.”
Grace and Peace, My Ekklesia Family
People are funny. Some will tell you exactly who they are from the beginning. They’ll say, “Yes, I love you,” and show it. Or, “No, I hate you,” and show it. Those are the people I like to deal with — you are or you’re not. Cut and dry.
But then there are the middle-of-the-road folk. They tell you one thing but do the opposite. They say they love you but show they don’t. Or they say they don’t love you but show they do. The words coming out of their mouths are lukewarm — hot and cold mixed together. That’s like mixing lies with truth. Just like the church of Laodicea (Revelation 3), God says He will spit that kind of love out.
God’s Word is God’s Word, and in His Word is truth. You cannot love God and not love all His people.
Even sinners say they love Jesus. And yes, Jesus loves sinners — Calvary is the proof (John 3:16). But when you truly love Jesus, your actions will not leave doubt in anyone’s mind. You will love everyone the same way Jesus has loved you.
Jesus also said that love is the way the world will know who His disciples really are (John 13:35). That love is more than words — it’s empathy in action. Love doesn’t just say, “I feel for you.” Love sits with the broken, weeps with the hurting, lifts up the fallen, and bears the burdens of the weak (John 11:35; Matthew 25:35–40).
To follow Jesus is to enter into another person’s story the way He entered ours. He felt our pain, carried our griefs, and bore our sins on the cross. If Christ could do that for us, how can we claim to love Him and refuse to show that same empathy to others?
Lord Jesus, Teach us to love the way You love. Strip away lukewarm words and half-hearted actions. Let our love be real, visible, and sacrificial. Fill us with Your Spirit so that empathy flows through us — to sit with the broken, to weep with the hurting, to lift up the weary, and to bear the burdens of the weak.
Forgive us when our mouths have said one thing but our lives have shown another. Make us disciples who are known not by what we say, but by the love we live out daily. Thank You for Calvary — the proof of Your perfect love for sinners like us. May we reflect that same love to all people, without exception.
In Jesus Holy and Matchless Name ,Amen.
Real love is visible. Real love is sacrificial. Real love is empathetic. Real love proves you belong to Jesus.
