“Jesus replied: ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”
— Matthew 22:37–40 (NLT)
Yesterday, the world witnessed the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. Whether people viewed him as a hero or as someone whose voice sowed division, his passing reminds us of an eternal truth: every person dies for something—yet only life in Christ gives meaning to both our living and our dying.
Some die clinging to ideologies of power, prejudice, or politics. But as followers of Jesus, we are called to live—and if necessary, to die—for the Gospel. The Gospel of love, grace, and truth. The Gospel that produces the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23).
The real question for us today is simple but eternal: What do you believe in so deeply that you would give your life for it?
Consider the heroes of faith in Hebrews 11. Some conquered kingdoms, others shut the mouths of lions, and many laid down their lives. But all had one thing in common—they lived and died in faith, looking toward God’s promise.
Don’t let your life be wasted on temporary causes. Anchor it in eternal truth.
Love God first. Let every decision, every word, and every thought rise from that love.
Love people—yes, even those you disagree with. For love, not hate, is the mark of discipleship.
Heavenly Father, today I recommit my life to what matters most: loving You with all my heart, soul, and mind, and loving my neighbor as myself. Guard me from the snares of hate, pride, and division. Fill me with the fruits of the Spirit. If I must die for anything, let it be for Your Gospel. Until then, let me live fully for Christ.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ, today is the day of salvation. Come to Him—not with politics, not with hate, not with excuses—but with a humble heart. He will meet you with love, forgiveness, and eternal life.
Key Thought for Today:
Many die for politics or pride, but only life and death in Christ brings eternal gain.
