What Does Sacrifice Mean to You?

Good Morning, Ekklesia Family,
Quick question: What does sacrifice mean to you?
For some, sacrifice means letting go of something valuable for the sake of someone else. For others, it may not mean much at all—until they’re on the receiving end of someone else's surrender. Truth is, sacrifice is deeply personal. Over the years, we’ve all shaped our own understanding of it. But let me offer you a truth that transcends opinion:
Sacrifice is required in every meaningful relationship.
And the purest example we have is Christ Jesus.
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.”— John 10:11 NLT
Let’s break that down for a moment:
We are the sheep—vulnerable, easily distracted, unable to protect ourselves from the danger of sin and death. Jesus is the Good Shepherd—not just a guide, but a Savior who steps between us and destruction. To save us, He gave up His life. That’s sacrifice.
He didn’t offer what was convenient.
He didn’t give from a place of abundance. He gave everything—so we could live.
So now the question becomes: What will you do with that sacrifice?
Will you keep taking His blessings without giving anything back?
Will you ignore the cross and live like nothing happened?
Or will you finally say, “Lord, my life is Yours,” and surrender what you cannot keep to gain what you cannot lose?
Sacrifice isn’t always about pain.
Sometimes it’s about purpose. And purpose begins when we give God back what He gave us first—our life.
With love, always.

Peace, Joy, and Blessings,
Stephän Kirby
