Doing God's Word While Grieving - Part 1
Good morning Ekklesia,
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." – Matthew 5:4 (NLT)
Grief is an inevitable part of life. When we lose loved ones or face heartache, the weight of sorrow can feel overwhelming. Yet, even in the midst of grief, God calls us to continue His work. The comfort of God is not just a future promise; it’s a present reality that allows us to serve Him despite our pain.
Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:4 reveal an amazing truth: those who mourn are blessed, not because grief is easy, but because God’s comfort comes in the deepest valleys. When we grieve, we are more open to His presence, more reliant on His strength. And in that vulnerability, God empowers us to continue His work. Even in our brokenness, God can use us to bless others. Our grief becomes a testament to His sustaining power.
How do we do God’s work while grieving? We lean into His presence. We serve others as a reflection of the comfort He gives us. Rather than withdrawing, we can find healing by remaining active in our purpose. Like Nehemiah, who rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem with tears in his eyes and sword in hand (Nehemiah 4:17), we can carry our grief and still be faithful to the mission. Through serving, we allow God’s healing to flow through us, turning our sorrow into strength for His Kingdom.
Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that You are the God of all comfort. As we mourn, we ask for Your strength to continue doing Your will. Help us find peace in serving You, knowing that in our weakness, You are strong. Let Your Word be the anchor that holds us steady, and may Your Spirit guide us in every step. Turn our mourning into joy and our pain into purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
If you are grieving today, know that God sees you, loves you, and desires to comfort you. He is calling you to come closer, to trust in Him, and to continue walking in His ways. If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Savior, today is the day. He is waiting with open arms to walk with you through every storm. Will you give your life to Him today?
