Don't Give the Devil So Much Credit

Too often, when something goes wrong in our lives, our first reaction is: “The devil is attacking me.” But sometimes, what feels like opposition is really opportunity. What looks like trouble may be training. God may be shaping us, not Satan striking us.
Think of Job—yes, the enemy came against him, but it was God who set the boundary and used Job’s trials to refine his faith. Or Joseph—betrayed by his brothers, yet he declared, “You meant it for evil, but God meant it for good” (Genesis 50:20 NLT).
1 Peter 1:6-7 NLT
[6] So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
[7] These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
Notice—it doesn’t say every trial comes from the devil. It says trials prove faith, and God allows them so that we are strengthened, purified, and made ready for His greater glory.
1. Shift Your Focus – Don’t make the devil bigger than he is. He is defeated, but God is sovereign.
2. See the Blessing in the Burden – Every weight you carry in Christ’s name builds spiritual muscle.
3. Grow Through What You Go Through – Instead of asking, “Why me?” ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me?”
When we stop over-crediting the devil and start seeing God’s hand, even in hardship, we recognize trials as blessings, not curses.
Heavenly Father, forgive us for giving the enemy more attention than he deserves. Today, we surrender every struggle to You. Teach us to see Your hand at work in our trials, to embrace the refining fire, and to rejoice that You are building our character. Strengthen our faith so that what was meant for harm becomes testimony for good. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Beloved, if you have been living under the weight of believing that every hardship is an attack, let today be your turning point. Trust Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. He turns trials into triumphs. Come, walk with Him, and see how even your pain can become a blessing.
