“Don’t Let Nobody Put Your Fire Out”

Scripture Focus

Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.  (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

Additional Scripture

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” — 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

One of the biggest battles young people face is trying to stay confident in a world that constantly tries to make them question themselves.

People will sometimes:

  • laugh at your dreams

  • judge your personality

  • criticize your growth

  • make fun of your faith

  • leave you out

  • try to make you feel “too much” or “not enough”

But hear this clearly:

God never created you to dim your light so other people can feel comfortable.

The enemy wants you discouraged because discouraged people stop shining.

That is why the Bible says:
“Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.”

In other words:
Don’t let your fire go out.

Your fire is:

  • your love for God

  • your worship

  • your kindness

  • your joy

  • your purpose

  • your confidence in Christ

And sometimes the people trying to put your fire out are dealing with fires they already lost themselves.

But when you know who you are in Jesus, people cannot define you anymore.

You stop living for approval.
You stop shrinking to fit in.
You stop apologizing for being different.

Why?

Because you realize:
God chose you on purpose.

David was overlooked.
Joseph was hated.
Jeremiah thought he was too young.
Timothy struggled with fear.

But God still used them powerfully.

And He can use you too.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU TODAY

You do not have to:

  • act fake to fit in

  • hide your faith

  • become negative because others are negative

  • lose your joy because someone else is miserable

Protect your fire.

Protect your peace.

Protect your relationship with God.

Because the world needs young people who still burn with faith, kindness, courage, and truth.

CHALLENGE

This week:

  • encourage somebody

  • pray every day

  • listen to worship music

  • read one scripture a day

  • stop speaking negatively about yourself

And every time doubt tries to enter your mind, say:

“I belong to God, and nobody can put out what He placed inside of me.”

PRAYER

Jesus,
help me protect the fire You placed inside of me.
When people criticize me, remind me who I am in You.
When I feel afraid or insecure, give me strength and confidence.
Help me shine at school, online, at home, and around my friends.
Use my life to encourage somebody else.
And never let me forget that I am loved, chosen, and called by You.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love U More Than U Know.

FOR PARENTS & GUARDIANS

At Ekklesia, our Kids & Youth Ministry is built to grow with your child—not rush them and not hold them back.

We teach children, middle schoolers, and teens at their own level and pace, helping them:

  • Discover who they are in Christ

  • Understand their God-given purpose

  • Grow spiritually in healthy, age-appropriate ways

  • Develop confidence in faith early

Our goal is to partner with families to raise children and students who know Jesus, know their identity, and are prepared to live out their faith with purpose.

The same Christ.
The same mission.
A pathway designed just for them.
