Colossians 3:13

Good morning My Ekklesia Family

Forgiveness is vital. Don’t hold onto grudges, those are not yours to carry. Didn’t God forgive you?

Colossians 3:13 (NLT) says:

“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.”

Paul is writing to believers in Colossae, urging them to live as those who have been raised to new life in Christ. In this verse, he emphasizes forgiveness as a core part of Christian character.

“Make allowance for each other’s faults” – means to expect imperfection in others and respond with patience, not judgment.

“Forgive anyone who offends you” – not just those who apologize, or those you like. Forgiveness is not optional or selective.

“Remember, the Lord forgave you” – our motivation and model for forgiveness is rooted in Christ’s mercy toward us.

1. Expect Imperfection: People will disappoint, but grace is a choice. Don’t be shocked by faults—prepare to respond with love.

2. Initiate Forgiveness: Don't wait for an apology. Forgiveness sets you free from bitterness.

3. Reflect God’s Grace: When it’s hard to forgive, remember how much you’ve been forgiven. Let that soften your heart.

“If we hold grudges, we chain ourselves to the very pain we pray to be delivered from. Forgiveness doesn’t mean they were right — it means God is.”

Lord Jesus,

Thank You for forgiving me fully, freely, and forever. Teach me to forgive like You.

Soften my heart toward those who’ve hurt me.

Help me not to hold on to offense, but to hold fast to grace.

Make me a vessel of mercy in a world of resentment.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
